Contact X-Feds Investigative Group to schedule a free consultation.

What can I expect during my consultation?

X-Feds Investigators will ask you to explain your situation or circumstance and provide details of the evidence or information you may already have.  X-Feds will assist you in determining the goals of your investigation and will enter into agreement with you regarding the details of the investigation.  X-Feds will also discuss your budget and develop an investigative strategy stay within your budget.

Do I have to pay anything up front?

Yes.  X-Feds requires the client to pay a retainer fee.  What is a retainer fee?  A retainer is a fee paid in advance to secure a Private Investigator’s services.  A retainer fee is like a deposit, which is applied to future work.  The important thing about a retainer is that once the fee has been paid, the investigator works exclusively for you and/or your attorney and cannot be hired by anyone else associated with your case. The retainer amount depends on several variables, which will be discussed during your consultation, but generally X-Feds require a $1,500 retainer.

How will I be billed for investigative services?

Once the amount of your retainer has been used, the client will be required to submit additional payment to fund the investigation.  The idea is for the client to keep paid ahead and not end up with a large invoice at the conclusion of the investigation.  Paying ahead also helps us stay within your budget.  Costs and payments will be discussed in detail during your initial consultation.

What is the cost of hiring a private investigator?

Private Investigator services can either be a fixed amount or charged as an hourly rate, depending on the services requested.  For example, a Background Investigation is a flat rate, whereas an investigation is charged on an hourly basis.  Hourly rates are determined based on several factors including travel, complexity, surveillance, time constraints, etc.  Whether your case qualifies for a Flat or Hourly Rate, X-Feds will discuss your budget for their services and provide you with the cost of services during your initial consultation.

How long does an investigation take?

The short answer is it depends.  There are many variables in an investigation that determine how long it will take to complete.  Physical or digital surveillance often takes time to develop the information or evidence needed for your case.  X-Feds understand that individuals are often under a lot of stress and want answers quickly, however it may take weeks or months to gather the evidence you need to support your case and ensure the information is complete, detailed, and accurate.

Does X-Feds work with attorneys?

Yes.  X-Feds Investigative Group maintains a good working relationship with many attorneys throughout western North Carolina.  While it is not a requirement that you retain an attorney prior to hiring X-Feds, it can be beneficial for investigators to work as a team with your attorney to ensure the needed information or evidence is gathered to that best supports your case.

How will I be updated on the investigation progress?

X-Feds and the client will mutually agree how and how often the client will be updated on the investigation progress, once X-Feds has been retained.  To maintain the integrity of the investigation, clients may or may not be provided every detail of the investigative strategies or findings, however all information and evidence located, collected, and documented will be included in the final report of investigation

Will I receive a final report of investigation?

Yes.  Depending on the complexity of your case, the final report of investigation may only be a few pages, or it could be hundreds of pages.  Once the investigation is complete, the final report will contain all information and/or evidence collected by X-Feds during the investigation.  Report exhibits may include criminal histories, individual comprehensive reports, photographs, videos, court documents, or law enforcement reports to name a few.  X-Feds is committed to providing you with a final report of investigation that will be professional, detailed, and accurate.

Will my case be treated confidentially?

Yes.  Investigative techniques, strategies, and findings will only be shared with the client and/or their attorney.  However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.  By law, we are required to report any child abuse or neglect.  We will also report situations where we discover that someone is in danger of serious bodily harm or death.

Will the person I’m investigating find out or be notified?

In most cases it is beneficial for X-Feds Investigators to keep their investigation confidential, not alerting the target they are under investigation.  However, there may come a time during the investigation that the target becomes aware they are being investigated, but this normally occurs when only after then critical evidence has been gathered.  The target may also become aware they have been under investigation during final court proceedings.

Can X-Feds guarantee the results you want?

In short, no.  Once you hire X-Feds we become personally involved in your case and we become your ally and your advocate.  Our investigators will give you 110% effort and will make every attempt, within the law, to locate, gather, and document the information or evidence you desire.  With that said, we cannot guarantee the results you want or require in your case.

A Private Investigator is hired to find the truth, which may or may not be what you wanted or expected.  For example, you may believe your significant other is cheating, but the investigation fails to uncover any evidence of infidelity.  Although you may still have suspicions and you’re disappointed with the results, the truth will be there is no evidence of infidelity.

What you desire or expect from your investigation, may not always turn out to be what is revealed during the investigation.  No Private Investigator can guarantee you the results you want.  While X-Feds cannot guarantee you the results you want, we can guarantee you that we will be dedicated and committed to finding out the truth in your case.  We will also guarantee you that we will conduct a professional and thorough investigation and will meticulously document our investigative findings in a detailed report that can be used by you and your attorney to support your case.
